Blog#42 Readers: My Blog Was Hacked For A Few Minutes

Dear readers,

I just wanted to let you know that my blog was temporarily hacked via a third-party PayPal plugin we installed yesterday. The offending piece of code was immediately removed by my quick-witted tech guy and all is back to normal, and spotted in the first place thanks to the vigilance of my friend Mike.

The plugin caused any page on the site to redirect to windowsserviceteam dot com, which displays a fake-looking warning to users that the site has malicious code and has been blocked and asking the reader to immediately call a phone number to release their computer.

Should you encounter this elsewhere, know that it is a form of hijacking, not on your computer, but the tab or web window you are in. While it is difficult to back out it, it is not impossible.

I apologize for any inconvenience.
